The theme of this International Nurses Day is ‘Our nurses. Our future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies‘. At eHealth NSW, we’re proud to support nurses and healthcare professionals through digital health solutions that enhance safe, connected, and person-centred care. We know that when we empower healthcare professionals, we also strengthen our entire system and economy.
From hospital floors to ICT solutions
Behind the development of all successful digital systems and initiatives are the voices, lived experiences and expertise of clinicians providing vital care on the frontlines.
We are grateful for our colleagues who bring those voices to life at eHealth NSW and have been working tirelessly to help build digital health solutions that makes a real difference in the life of healthcare professionals across our system.
Digital Safety and Quality Lead and colleague, Nichola Turner is one of those voices. For the last 15 years, she has been using her on-the-floor clinical expertise as a nurse in rural and remote areas in the Northern Territory to help build, configure and redesign ICT digital solutions that help improve the quality and sustainability of care statewide.
Nichola has been instrumental in developing and improving several ICT systems across NSW Health including the CoVax digital solution developed by eHealth NSW to support the rapid rollout of COVID-19 vaccinations in NSW. It was initially designed to vaccinate frontline workers, including healthcare staff, police and quarantine workers, before being expanded for public use.
“My experience working across diverse clinical settings—from Aboriginal healthcare in Darwin to NSW Metro Hospitals (Emergency, Cardiology, Neurology, Haematology/Oncology/Operating Theatres on call) —has been invaluable in understanding what Nurses, Health teams and patients truly need from technology,”
